What is Apple CarPlay™?

Apple CarPlay™ is a connectivity feature that’s a part of the dashboard-mounted infotainment touchscreen display. This system simply integrates your smartphone into the touchscreen, so you can have direct access to your phone’s features. It adds a sense of safety to help reduce driver distraction, so instead of unlocking your phone and taking your eyes off of the road, you can simply touch the screen to select any phone function.

From your touchscreen, you can easily check out your selection of media apps to stream songs from any of your subscription services. You can also access your phone’s maps, contacts, and even texts. This feature keeps you connected at all times despite being on the road or far from home.

How Does Apple CarPlay™ Connect Me?

On top of integrating your iPhone to the dashboard-mounted touchscreen, the system directly connects you to your phone’s contacts, functions, apps, and media. You can activate Siri® using the steering-wheel-mounted controls, so you can use voice control to select your preferred media, a friend or family member to call, or even to access the GPS app on your phone to guide you to your destination. You can even select to have the CarPlay™ display equipped on your touchscreen rather than your standard touchscreen view.

What Nissan Models Have Apple CarPlay™?

There are several Nissan models that have Apple CarPlay™. However, some models offer this feature with the higher trim levels, but there’s a select few Nissan models that include Apple CarPlay™ at the base level.

The Nissan Maxima offers Apple CarPlay™ with its base-level S trim. The Maxima also offers Android Auto™, which has the same functions as Apple CarPlay™ but for Android-centric phones.

The Nissan Rogue, Rogue Sport, and Murano are the Nissan crossovers that also come equipped with Apple CarPlay™ as well as the Android feature as well. The Nissan Murano is a slightly bigger midsize SUV that also offers Apple CarPlay™ with its base trim.

While Apple CarPlay™ isn’t standard on every Nissan vehicle, you can easily have it included with some of the higher trim levels. This feature reduces driver distraction and keeps you connected on the road.
