Best Golf Courses Indianapolis IN

golfSome say the best way to release some anger, relieve some tension, or just to get some exercise is to get out on a perfectly manicured course and whack a tiny little ball into the distance. Whether you've got the score of a pro or you just like to hit a few balls for some internal centering, there are three top courses in the Indianapolis area and any one of them would be great for enjoying the outdoors and getting some fun exercise.

Broadmoor Country Club

The Broadmoor Country Club has a long history in the business, as they've been open since 1922. Sprawling across 200 incredible acres, the Broadmoor course was designed by famous Scottish golfer David Ross. Many famous golfers have played this beautiful course, including the likes of Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino.

In order to enjoy the challenging bunkers and smooth greens of their course, one must become a member of the club, where they'll also get to enjoy the benefits of the pool, tennis courts, and world-class dining. Become a golf, corporate, or social member to truly embrace all the benefits of the club and make some new friends.

Highland Golf and Country Club

In 1903, the Highland Golf and Country Club petitioned to use a portion of the city's riverfront park to build a fun yet challenging nine-hole golf course. The course was made using empty cans, the clubhouse was a ramshackle shed on nearby farmland, and the course itself was maintained by the farmers if and when they finished their farm chores.

In 1908, they were issued more land in which they could expand to an 18-hole course. At this point, they became one of the three courses of its kind in the area. Just a short 10 years later, the course was repossessed by the city and replaced with the land on which the course now sits. Having survived through the World Wars and the Great Depression, the club has proven itself quite resilient and offers an incredibly challenging course for golf fans.

Meridian Hills Country Club

The first ball was hit here in 1923 and ever since has been one of the best courses in the Indianapolis area. Meridian Hills Country Club golf course is open 10 months out of the year and seven days a week for your golfing pleasure. Designed by Bill Diddel, the course offers a challenging and beautiful 18 holes of golf.

As members, however, you're able to work out in the fitness center on the premises, as well as play racquetball, swim in the pool, or enjoy some amazing food.
