Major Warning Signs of Needing an Oil Change

There are a few simple ways to determine if it's time to change your vehicle's oil. But, the simplest way is to check your dashboard. If the oil change light is on, then you definitely need to schedule an appointment.

However, there are other signs that indicate needing an oil change, including...

• Oil dipstick: It's time to pop open the hood and put some elbow grease in it, just like your father showed you. Locate the dipstick, remove it, and check the oil levels manually.
• Oil consistency: However, just because your oil levels are sufficient doesn't mean you're absolutely in the clear. If the oil has a black and gritty consistency, then give us a call.
• Unexpected noise: If you hear any grinding or screeching while you're driving, then the motor oil is probably low. After all, the stuff's there in the first place to lubricate parts!
• Burning smell: Likewise, if you smell burning oil while you're driving, we can help remedy the issue.

Last, but certainly not least, you need to pay respect to father time. If you simply can't remember the last time you had an oil change, then it's probably been too long. Give us a ring as soon as possible!

Standard Time Interval Recommendations: Newer Nissan Models

But, we'll also give you a few rules of thumb to follow, even if you're not experiencing any of the above symptoms. In normal operating conditions, you should change your Nissan's oil every 7,500 miles or six months, whichever comes first. In harsher conditions, shoot for about 3,750 miles or three months.
