Lease Return Checklist

Lease Return

Leasing is a great way to drive a new Nissan, thanks to typically flexible contracts and accommodating monthly payments. However, what happens when it’s time to turn in the leased model because your contract is up? Another benefit of leasing is how easy Andy Mohr Nissan makes the trade-in process.

Although our team will take care of the legwork when you get here, you can prepare for your end-of-contract appointment beforehand. With our handy lease return checklist, you can streamline the process from beginning to end. This will help you get back on the roads of Indianapolis, Lawrence, and Speedway, IN, in no time.

Inspect Your Leased Nissan for Damage

Inspect Your VehicleWhile leasing a vehicle, you agree to stay within a certain mileage limit, perform routine maintenance when recommended, and keep the model in good shape. When your lease is about to end, it’s helpful to evaluate the state of the vehicle to avoid any unwanted end-of-contract fees.

Here are some things to be on the lookout for:

  • Worn tires or low tire treading
  • Dents, dings, and scratches on the exterior paint
  • Chips and cracks in the windshield
  • Upholstery wear and tear
  • Carpet stains
  • Excess mileage (compared to your lease agreement)

Make Repairs if Needed

If you find some problem areas during the inspection of your leased Nissan, have them repaired if you can. The less work the dealership has to do to get the model back on the sales floor could end up helping you save in the long run.

To repair these issues, seek out a Nissan-certified technician as outlined in your contract.

Wash & Detail

Washing CarAfter all the repairs have been completed, it’ll be time for a good deep cleaning. This includes both the interior and the exterior of the model. Either use that elbow grease and do the job yourself or hire a professional detailer to do the work for you.

Additionally, remove all personal items from the model. Make sure you check hidden areas, like:

  • Seatback pockets
  • Under the seats
  • Cargo area
  • Glove compartments and center console
  • Sun visors and sunglass holders

Gather the Vehicle’s Original Equipment

After a few years of driving, you have probably transformed your leased Nissan into an accommodating space to suit your unique needs. This could mean removing or changing the location of the model’s original equipment.

Make sure that all of this equipment is back in their place before leasing. This includes:

  • Keys and key fobs
  • Headsets and remotes
  • Cargo cover and other cargo accessories
  • Floor mats
  • Roof rails and wheel rims
  • Owner’s manual
