Nissan Instant Acceleration

Nissan EV

You’ll find the e-Step pedal in the all-electric Nissan Ariya. This technology will allow you to control acceleration and deceleration with just one pedal—the accelerator. Not only does it allow you to accelerate more quickly with a jolt of electric power, but it also will make braking safer, especially in inclement weather.

Operate the e-Step pedal by pressing down with you want to speed up, as you would with any accelerator. However, when you’re ready to brake, simply remove your foot from the e-Step pedal and allow it to implement its own deceleration force. Release just slightly to slow down a little, or release it fully to slow down more or stop.

This can come in real handy on wet, slippery, or snowy roads. A more coordinated braking function can help to fill in the time gaps when the unexpected occurs on the road and help to shorten your reaction time.

Regenerative Braking

Nissan EV

Regenerative braking is a technology that allows EVs to be somewhat self-sustaining. What could be more brilliant than a vehicle that’s able to be its own power source, producing some of the fuel it needs during the very act of driving?

It’s part of the reason why EV batteries last longer and need to be replaced less than those in traditional gas-powered cars. It’s also part of the reason why you’ll find EPA-estimated electric ranges of 304 miles in the Ariya and 212 miles in the Leaf.1

As you brake, the excess force that is not needed for braking is converted into electric energy that is then stored in the battery. You’ll be able to make the highway your own speedway, stopping less often for the electric fuel you need for your travels.

Less Is More: The Advantages of Nissan EV Technology

Nissan EV

The more drivers get hip to the benefits of Nissan EV technology and the less fossil fuel consumption there is overall, the better our environment will fare. However, that isn’t the only area in which less equals more advantages.

When you own a Nissan EV, you’ll need to spend less time and money on the kinds of maintenance you may be used to with traditional vehicles. Besides, with no gas or tailpipe emissions, you’ll have no oil changes to contend with. You also won’t need to get tune-ups.

If you’re a true nature lover who enjoys many a drive along the Wabash River Greenway or Calumet Trail, you can cruise through and still hear the birds chirping outside. EVs are a nearly silent bunch that will offer you unmatched serenity.
