Does the Nissan Rogue or Honda CR-V Have More Space?

nissan rogue vs honda cr-v indianapolis, in

The Rogue and CR-V offer plenty of features to help keep everyone on board nice and comfortable. For example, they both offer heated front seats and a heated steering wheel to help you stay warm on colder days. But which has more room and flexibility?

Interior Dimensions

Inside the Nissan Rogue, driver and co-pilot get to stretch out. Upfront, you can move freely, adjust as you need to, and relax thanks to 41.1 inches of headroom. Plus, with 43.3 inches of legroom, even the tallest drivers will feel at ease behind the wheel.

In contrast, the front row of the Honda CR-V has 40.1 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom.

When it comes down to interior dimensions, a few inches here and there might not seem like much, but when you’re in the middle of getting from Point A to Point B, it does. For larger families and frequent carpoolers, the extra inches in the Nissan Rogue can make the difference between a good ride and a great one.

Divide-N-Hide® Cargo System

Both SUVs offer room for grocery bags, sports equipment, luggage, and other items. You can easily expand your cargo volume using these vehicles’ standard 60/40-split folding rear seats.

The Rogue provides more of an upgrade, though, with the addition of its available Divide-N-Hide® cargo system. Unique to this SUV, this system allows you to completely fold down your rear seats so you have a flat surface to stow away all your cargo.

Not only that, but you can also conceal your gear and luggage out of sight. By organizing your belongings below the cargo floor, you ensure they stay in place throughout the entire journey and protected after you park.

The Honda CR-V doesn’t offer a similar cargo management system.

Rogue vs CR-V: Technology & Entertainment

2020 Nissan Rogue Interior Technology

On today’s roads, technology is king, and inside the Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V, you’ll be well-equipped to remain connected on the go. Both vehicles offer advanced infotainment systems that provide you with easy access to music and hands-free phone calls.

Touch-screen vs Display Screen

In the Nissan Rogue, a NissanConnect® 8-inch touch-screen display comes standard. Comparatively, in the Honda CR-V, the standard 5-inch display isn’t a touch-screen. You’ll have to upgrade to get touch-screen capabilities, and even then, the largest screen is seven inches.

Not only does the Rogue offer the added convenience of a standard touch-screen, but it also provides three more inches of screen real estate. This makes for a more comfortable experience when using your infotainment system.

Standard & Available Tech

Both the Honda CR-V and the Nissan Rogue have Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility and integration. However, these convenient tech features only come standard in the 2021 Nissan Rogue. Additionally, only the Rogue offers wireless Apple CarPlay® as an available upgrade.

Finally, the Nissan Rogue provides an upgrade to the infotainment system with standard Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant capability. You can control your Nissan Rogue from the comfort of your home using only your voice.

Adjust the climate settings ahead of time by instructing your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to do so. Before you know it, you’ll forget what it’s like to step inside a car that’s too hot or too cold. This one is for Goldilocks! Additionally, you can use these systems to control your smart devices at home from the cabin of your Rogue.

Mood Setting Capabilities

Equipped with the available 10-speaker Bose Premium Audio System, everything you hear through the Nissan Rogue’s speakers will sound like music to your ears. In comparison, the Honda CR-V has an optional 330-watt, 9-speaker sound system with a subwoofer. Not only are there fewer speakers, but they won’t have the same sound quality as the Nissan’s Bose speakers.

You can set the tone throughout the cabin, whether you’re riding solo or exploring with friends and family in tow. Available interior accent lighting for the Nissan Rogue comes with 20 pre-programmed LED color options that light up the footwells and front cup holders. You can control the color of the light and switch them on/off using a knob. On top of that, the lights activate when you open your door for added pizzazz.

The Honda CR-V also offers available interior ambient lighting; however, it doesn’t offer the same number of lighting options. So, if you want some added “wow” in your life, the Nissan Rogue provides.

Is the Nissan Rogue or the Honda CR-V More Comfortable?

Have you ever wondered how astronauts get comfortable in space? With optional Zero Gravity seats in the Rogue, you can get one step closer to finding out. Based on technology used to build seats for astronauts living and traveling in space, these seats provide the perfect support for the human body.

Currently, the Honda CR-V doesn’t have a comparable option to the Zero Gravity seats in the Rogue.

Is the Honda CR-V or Nissan Rogue Safer?

There are many elements to consider when determining how safe a vehicle is for its riders. Driver-assistive features can step in when they detect a problem through adjustive corrections, warning lights and alerts, and even automatic braking.

Rear Automatic Braking

The CR-V comes with the driver-assistive safety suite known as Honda Sensing®, which includes standard systems, such as:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™)
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)

In comparison, the Nissan Rogue has a similar standard driver-assistive suite called Safety Shield® 360, which includes:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert

However, one additional system the Nissan Rogue offers is standard Rear Automatic Braking. Imagine knowing that your car has your back—literally. When you’re reversing, this system monitors the area behind you and alerts you to obstacles. If it recognizes a potential collision, it can automatically apply the brakes.

At present, the Honda CR-V doesn’t offer a Rear Automatic Braking system.

Blind Spot Warning

The Nissan Rogue comes standard with a Blind Spot Warning system. When it detects a vehicle in your blind spot, the corresponding side mirror will light up. Plus, with the standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, you'll get a warning when a vehicle or other object is approaching from either side when you're in reverse.

The Honda CR-V has its own Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor, but it doesn’t come standard, so you need to opt for a higher trim level. If you’re looking for more safety features, the Nissan Rogue may be a better choice.

Advanced Headlight Technology

If you do a lot of night driving, it can pay off to have a car with powerful headlights. Both the Nissan Rogue and the Honda CR-V will provide you with the best visibility possible with LED headlights. These lights help illuminate the area in front of you, so you can see everything at night. These lights are standard in the Rogue but are only available in the CR-V.

It’s important to make sure you’re turning off your high beams when another car approaches. To help with this, both the Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V come standard with High Beam Assist. This technology uses sensors to detect when another vehicle is approaching you and will automatically deactivate the high beams. When the vehicle passes, your high beams will turn back on.

Should I Get the Nissan Rogue or Honda CR-V?

The 2021 Honda CR-V is an impressive SUV; however, the 2021 Nissan Rogue may be the better pick with its long list of features, like the available Divide-N-Hide® cargo system and a standard touch-screen display, Blind Spot Warning, and LED headlights. Plus, you get the convenience of commanding your car from inside your home by taking advantage of standard Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility.

Of course, to help decide if it's right for you, you'll need to check it out in person.
