Nissan Rogue vs Toyota RAV4: Tech

Nissan Rogue TechWhen in the driver’s seat of the 2020 Nissan Rogue, you'll find that your command center, a large 7-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, gives you full control of the cockpit. Great features like Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio offer a soundtrack for the Nissan Rogue. You'll be able to hear your favorite songs through nine speakers and two subwoofers with the available Bose® Premium Audio System, fully submersing you in quality, concert-level sound.

There's more than music in this system, though. The command center features Nissan Door to Door Navigation to get you where you're going. It seamlessly pairs your smartphone to your display, so you can send and receive destinations. And, if you park far away from your intended destination, it’ll send a quick walking distance for the rest of the way to get you there safely.

The Toyota RAV4 shares a lot of similarities when it comes to entertainment features with the Rogue such as a standard 7-inch display with smartphone integration and an available premium sound system. But, while it has available navigation, it lacks an application to conveniently pair your nav system to your smartphone, so you won’t be treated to the same level of convenience in the RAV4 as you will in the Rogue.

Interior Dimensions: Rogue vs RAV4

Clearly, thanks to smartphone integration, the entertainment possibilities are endless inside the Rogue and RAV4, but what does it feel like to cruise down the road in them? With an available 8-way power driver’s seat found on both models you’ll be able to easily find your ideal seating position to help envigorate your commute or longer treks.

To give you a better picture of the cabin space these SUVs provide, check out the following interior measurements:

Nissan Rogue

Toyota RAV4

Front Headroom: 41.6 inches Front Headroom: 37.7 inches
Front Legroom: 43 inches Front Legroom: 41 inches
Rear Legroom: 37.9 inches Rear Legroom: 37.8 inches

As you can see, the Nissan Rogue creates a far more comfortable ride than the Toyota RAV4 with ample headroom and legroom for even taller drivers to enjoy.

Additionally, you’ll be able to enjoy a roomier cargo area in the Rogue with 39.3 cubic feet of space when the rear seats are upright. But, if more space is needed for your roadtrip essentials, fold the 60/40 split-folding rear seat flat to gain a maximum cargo area of 70 cubic feet. It might be a tight squeeze for your grocery bags in the RAV4 with just 37.6 cubic feet of space. And while the rear cargo area is also configurable in the RAV4, it still comes up short with 69.8 cubic feet.

Is the Nissan Rogue or Toyota RAV4 Safer?

Nissan Rogue InteriorIt’s clear that the Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4 were crafted to create a secure ride with the following systems coming standard:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection: Monitors your distance between obstacles ahead and warns when you’re too close. In certain situations, it can apply the brakes for you to help you avoid a collision altogether.
  • Intelligent Lane Intervention: Warns when you begin to stray from your intended lane, so you can stay on track.
  • High Beam Assist: Intelligently toggles between low and high beams to provide you with a clear view of your surroundings at night.

These SUVs also offer available amenities like an Intelligent Around View® Monitor, which utilizes cameras strategically placed around your vehicle to provide a bird’s eye view of your surroundings. With the help of this feature, even tricky parallel parking maneuvers will become simplified.

However, the Rogue also comes standard with Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, while you’ll have to upgrade to a higher trim to make them available in the RAV4. These systems work as an extra set of eyes alerting you to vehicles approaching on either of your side blind zones when jetting down the highway or backing out of a tight parking space. Without these features in the RAV4, you may not have as confident and alert of a drive as you would in the Rogue.
